5/21/25: Language Museum and More!

Hello everyone, this is Maggie and Yelena-we are so honored to be this groups first official student bloggers!

We started off our day with a lovely hotel breakfast, consisting of bread, croissants, madeleines, along with a variety of other breakfast treats. ~ The madeleines were the fan favorite! ~

Feeling a bit refreshed from the prior nights sleep, we headed over to the Mundolingua museum of languages!

There, we discussed the ways in which language has evolved over time, specifically focusing on dialect. We also talked the ways in which languages can become extinct. The philosophical standpoint that challenged our thinking about less vs more languages existing provided a wide lens into the idea of language as a whole.

We finished off our time at the museum by giving Sugar (our new canine friend) lots of love!

We then strolled down to the Luxembourg garden where we got to explore the beautiful scenery! The fountain in the center was quite the spot to people watch! We were hoping to find Philip here… no luck. After a quick bite to eat, we were ready to see (and climb) the one and only Eiffel tower!

The Eiffel tower, which took our breath away was quite the experience! As we approached it we noticed the precise detailing that went into the construction of it- even down to the names of the original engineers on the side of the tower! As we climbed approx 400-800 stairs depending on which level different folks reached, we were greeted by a lovely view of the parisian city all around. With a view like this we were reminded of how special it is to be on this trip in such a wonderful place.

After some much needed down time, we made our way to the final stop of the night- Ground Control. This swanky, hip venue offered a variety of food trucks to choose from! As well as a vast selection of unique sitting spaces and interactive games! The vintage/thrift shop in the heart of the venue took up much of our time there!

On the rather rainy walk back to the metro station we had to say say goodbye to Juliet’s brother Joe, who has been a wonderful tour guide and friend on this adventure :(

Bonsoir, oh and we did not let it rain on our parade! It was a truly magnifique day!
